UPDATE

While Remy Martin is in the transfer portal, his father says the focus is playing professionally next season.

Another big name has entered the transfer portal morning. This time it is Arizona State sun Devils star guard Remy Martin.

Jeff Goodman was the first to report the news on Twitter.

Last season for the Sun Devils, Martin averaged 19.1 points on 43.3% shooting and 34.6% from three. He also added 3.7 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.

A two-time All PAC-12 first team player, Martin has averaged 19.1 points for the last two seasons. He averaged a career-high 5.0 assists per game as a junior in 2019-20. That dipped to 2.9 this past season.

Even though he is entering the portal it is widely expected he will get feedback from NBA Draft personnel before making the decision if he will use his extra year of eligibility.

If he does return to college at 6-0 and 175 pounds, the California native will have plenty of schools looking to add him to their rosters for next season.

A former four-star guard in the class of 2017, he chose Arizona State over offers from Kansas, USC, and Connecticut.

For Kentucky fans, this is another name to keep an eye on at the point guard position. It is widely expected that TyTy Washington will commit to Kentucky this weekend, but the staff will still be looking to add a second player at the point guard spot.

With Marcus Carr signing an agent this morning, rumblings have started to come out on Sahvir Wheeler being that other guard that could be joining the fold, though Martin will be viewed as a much stronger option. Heck, many will argue Martin is a better option than Marcus Carr.

Once again, however, this could be a long play to see where Martin ends up. We will keep you up to date as information comes out, though with how many guards Kentucky has been contacting this offseason, it would frankly be a surprise if they don’t reach out to Martin at some point.
