- Dean Elgar has lost his first toss as the full time Proteas Test captain and will bowl in the the first Test against the West Indies in St Lucia.
- With Temba Bavuma being ruled out with injury, Kyle Verreynne will make his Test debut along with Keegan Petersen.
- Petersen and Verreynne are the 113th and 114th players to represent the Proteas in Test cricket since 1992.
Dean Elgar has lost his first toss as the full-time Proteas Test captain and will field first in the first Test against the West Indies at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia.
Elgar will also have to do without his vice-captain Temba Bavuma, who has been ruled out of the Test with a left hip injury.
He has been replaced by Cape Cobras tyro Kyle Verreynne while Keegan Petersen is named as Faf du Plessis’s replacement.
Both Vereynne and Petersen are on Test debut.
