Indians C Wilson Ramos (ACL) done for season

Cleveland Indians catcher Wilson Ramos suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will need season-ending surgery, reported Monday.

Ramos, 34, was injured in the seventh inning of Sunday’s game throwing out Boston’s J.D. Martinez at second base on a swinging bunt. Ramos fell in a heap after the throw. He also sprained his MCL, per the report.

Ramos signed a minor league deal with the Indians after Detroit designated him for assignment in June. He had played in just nine games for the Indians since having his contract purchased from Triple-A Columbus, hitting .226 with two home runs and seven RBIs.

Ramos tore the ACL in his right knee in 2016.

For his career, the two-time All-Star is hitting .271/.318/.432 with 136 home runs and 534 RBIs in 990 games with seven teams, most notably the Washington Nationals (2010-16).
