Hafthor Bjornsson’s insane 55lb weight loss shows transformation for Eddie Hall fight

Hafthor Bjornsson has shed four stone in just over a year as he continues to shape his body from weightlifter to boxer before taking on arch rival Eddie Hall.

The two former World’s Strongest Man winners will meet in the ring in Nevada this September in a fight that has been dubbed as the ‘Heaviest Boxing Match in History’.

Their feud begun with a controversial judges decision during Hall’s successful 2017 WSM outing – in which his Icelandic rival finished a close runner up.

Following that, Hall held the world record in deadlifting with 500kg up until May of last year – a date in which Bjornsson lifted 501kg in a dig at his foe.

Bjornsson wrote on Instagram: “Bodyweight 155kg. Feeling fit, healthy and strong!”

That comes following his world record deadlift last year, ahead of which he weighed in at 180kg, which works out as a colossal 28 stone compared to his current 24 stone.

Hall had previously shown off his own weight loss of 73lbs when the fight was announced last year, Hall offered his supporters an update on his progress in January.

He said: “Been training really hard recently and I’m mega fired and hungry for success.

“Doing five cardio sessions a week – including boxing, cycling, swimming, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) land training. [This is] on top of four weight sessions.”

Eddie has been swimming in a bid to help his cardio, which is something he did regularly, and to a high standard, growing up in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

He said in a chat with Barbend in 2017: “I found it helped massively with lung capacity, heart function, and more than anything the mobility, because it helps the ligaments and capillaries and everything keep moving, so to speak.”

“I’ve seen you training. You been fighting this poor guy.”

With Eddie responding: “Training’s ramping up, the countdown is on.

“Every punch is one step closer to punching Thor’s brains out. I can’t wait.”
