Hafthor Bjornsson would be open to Mike Tyson boxing match after Eddie Hall clash

Hafthor Bjornsson has said he “wouldn’t say no” to a fight with boxing legend Mike Tyson if the opportunity was there.

Bjornsson is currently embroiled in a feud with fellow former strongman Eddie Hall, with the pair set to do battle next year.

The two World’s Strongest Man winners were due to face off in the ring on September 18, but Hall had to pull out when he suffered a detached bicep.

Bjornsonn, who is also know for his role as ‘The Mountain’ in Game of Thrones, will now be facing Canadian arm wrestling legend Devon Larratt in his third exhibition fight instead.

Although he has little boxing experience to date, Bjornsonn has claimed he would be open to facing one of the sport’s greatest of all time, Tyson.

He told The Sun: “If Mike Tyson would want to fight me, I wouldn’t say no.

“I would be honoured to feel his power.”

The two star along side each other in the soon to be released action film Desert Strike, with their characters coming to blows in the trailer.

Tyson made a return to the ring last November to face off against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match that finished in a split draw.

His vast experience advantage over Bjornsonn would be counter-balanced by the Icelander’s youthfulness, with there being 23 years age difference between them.

But Tyson’s ruthless streak is not something that Bjornsonn seems to possess, after he admitted he was nervous when he first took up boxing.

He added: “The first few times when I was about to go spar, I would get nervous because I knew I was going to get punched in the face, it’s not very nice.

“The more I do it, the less nervous I get, now it’s more like I’m excited, because I enjoy it.

“I don’t want to be the guy laying on the floor and that’s my biggest motivation.”
