JERUSALEM, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) — FIFA President Gianni Infantino arrived in Israel on Monday for a two-day visit, according to the Israel Football Association (IFA).
This is Infantino’s first visit to Israel as FIFA president, and he was greeted at Ben Gurion Airport outside Tel Aviv by IFA chairman Oren Hasson.
The two continued together to IFA’s National Football Center in the community of Shefayim in central Israel for an hour-long meeting attended by other IFA officials.
Infantino was presented with the IFA’s strategic plans and vision for the coming years for the further development of Israeli football, focusing on infrastructure, increasing the number of participants, setting up academies and excellence centers, coaching, youth development and women’s football.
“I had a wonderful discussion with the Israeli team, who presented to me the vision to bring the good news to every boy and girl in the country,” said Infantino.
“The hard work has already begun and it is an encouraging time for football in Israel,” he added.
Hasson said, “FIFA has helped us a lot and I hope we will benefit from its support in some projects in the future as well.”
“I hope for more visits from president Infantino and other FIFA members in favor of the continued development of Israeli football,” he added.
