LA-based prodco and distributor Dynamic Television has added a forthcoming thriller from Swedish pubcaster SVT and Kärnfilm to its slate of international drama.
Dynamic has taken worldwide distribution rights to The Fighter, which follows a female boxer and single mother as she takes a high-risk path to become the world champion.
Production on the six-part show is currently underway in Lithuania and Sweden, with a premiere expected next year. The drama is based on an original idea by Alexandra-Therese Keining, who writes alongside Henrik Engström and Jörgen Bergmark.
The cast includes Madeleine Martin, Jennie Silfverhjelm, Joel Spira, Ralph Carlsson, Emil Almén, Maryam Moghaddam, Erika Cardenas Hedenberg, Adja Krook, Ingela Olsson, Dragomir Mrsic and Rasmus Troedsson.
“The Fighter is an original and thrilling story set in a gritty and tough world that audiences haven’t seen,” said Daniel March and Klaus Zimmermann, managing partners for Dynamic Television, in a joint statement.
It joins other non-US series on Dynamic’s slate such as Australian drama Savage River, Icelandic drama Trapped, German thriller Beneath the Surface and Nordic crime procedural The Sommerdahl Murders.
Earlier this year, the company hired former Netflix executive Julie Anthony as head of French originals and European coproductions.
