LAHORE, Pakistan – Pakistan’s team Captain Babar Azam is confident about his team’s opening match against arch-rival India during the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE.
The two teams will lock horns in Dubai on October 24 – a match anxiously awaited by the cricket fans in the sub-continent.
Babar, the number one in the men’s ODI batting ranking, said that their morale is high, and the team wants to make a positive start to the tournament by defeating India in the opening match.
He added that gaining momentum at the start of the tournament will help improve the team’s confidence.
The prolific top-order batsman known for his discipline and level-headed attitude also shed light on Pakistan’s opening pair for the mega event.
“I will open the innings with Rizwan during the World Cup, but we can review our plans after evaluating the situation,” he said, quoted by Abbas Raza of Express Media Group.
He also emphasized the significance of having versatile Mohammad Hafeez and veteran all-rounders Shoaib Malik as part of the squad.
He was optimistic about using the experience and match-winning skills of Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik of the duo on the field.
The mega international cricket event will take place between October 17 and November 14 in UAE and Oman.
